Huge sums of money leave your corporate coffers every month through your accounts payable department. It is a complex process involving four distinct groups: 1) many buying entities within your company; 2) thousands of vendors; 3) your accounts payable staff; and 4) your corporate treasury. Complete controls are essential and can be had only with systems that are designed from the ground up for accounts payable. In a paper-based system or one run by a generic imaging system, complete controls are virtually impossible.
