For most companies, paper invoices
won’t go away anytime soon, even with the latest Internet
technologies. Imaging technologies automate paper handling and
invoice scanning is the first stage in any imaging system. Document
scanners create digital pictures of paper. These digital pictures
are the same technology as the digital pictures produced by digital
cameras. Most document scanners and associated software that are
acceptable for scanning invoices range in price from $400 to $2,500
for personal and distributed scanners and from $2,500 to $25,000
for invoice volumes ranging from 50,000 to over 1,000,000 per
year. Some scanners, especially those that cost less than $1,000
typically require special software to improve the image quality
so that all invoice images are fully readable. |
